Curriculum of the Future

The QCA have just released a new document titled "A Curriculum for the Future: Subjects consider the challenge."  In it they say the characteristics of a good future curriculum are:

  • Be aims led
  • Contribute to social justice by providing a common entitlement
  • Give substantial weight to personal, social and emotional education
  • Promote the area of skills
  • Recognise the importance of knowledge
  • Be future-orientated and deal with the big issues in young peoples lives
  • Allow for innovation and customisation
  • Use technology to extend and enhance teaching
  • Recognise practical and performance based learning
  • Reach out to world outside school
  • Have an international and global context

I've only scanned parts but it looks like it could be an interesting read for those that want to see what we will be teaching in a few years time.
