Talking Dice

Talking Dice are an idea of language teacher Emily
Daly, who originally used them to help teach her children German and French. Talking dice can be used for children learning their first language, second language or any foreign languages. And it's not just children that can benefit from them - talking dice can be used from nursery all the way up to adults.
Each dice in a topic contains 6 images to represent an item or object. For example the Human body dice contains an image of an ear, mouth, hand, foot, eye and nose. Each of the eighteen topic packs contains six identical picture dice. This allows a classroom of up to 36 children split into groups of six to have access to a dice. The dice topics are chosen to follow the national curriculum. They can be rolled singularly or in endless combinations of different topics.
The website already has a number of free games that can be played with the dice, but for those that want a whole years planning, you can order a teachers pack. The teachers pack contains enough activities (see example) to fill an academic year at any age or ability as well as a number of worksheets that the children can use.
You can see a video demonstration of the dice been used in the classroom on the website.
Fancy winning a complete classroom set of talking dice and teachers e-book (worth £89)? Then watch this site for a simple competition later in the week!
