Elementary Reports Competition Winners

CompetitionCongratulations to all those that entered the Elementary Reports Competition. Out of 197 entries, 197 there where 197 correct answers! I'm sure the questions are too easy!

Teachers TV’s Commissioning team want to hear your programme suggestions.

CompetitionTeachers' TV are looking to make one Primary programme for Teachers TV and want to hear from you.

"What would you like to see us make? All suggestions will be considered and the winning idea will be made into a 15 min programme. You may also get the chance to have the idea filmed at your school. We are particularly interested in hearing your ideas and suggestions about classroom focused topic based programmes.

You can also submit any other subject or role suggestions, if it's really good, it could be made too!

The winners will be rewarded for their efforts!

The deadline for all submissions is the 7th may 2008

Teachers TV’s Staffroom Monologues competition 2008

CompetitionAshley Pharoah, the creator of the acclaimed BBC series Hustle, Life on Mars and the follow up series Ashes to Ashes, is to judge Teachers TV’s Staffroom Monologues competition. The annual national competition (here are the results of the 2007 competition), run in association with the National Union of Teachers, aims to find the best budding screen writer from the schools workforce. Entrants will be asked to submit a fictional monologue about life at school with the winning prize to have their script performed by top actors later in the year.

Pharoah will be part of a panel of judges who will choose the five winning entries from the competition. The top two monologues will be acted and filmed for programmes to be broadcast on the channel later in the year, while the other three will be recorded in audio format and made available for download from www.teachers.tv.

To enter, those that work in education (paid or voluntary) are asked to submit a single character fictional monologue of between 800 and 1,000 words by 25 March 2008 on any aspect of school life from the perspective of someone who works in a school. Staffroom Monologues 2008

CompetitionFollowing the success of last year’s competition, Teachers TV, in partnership with the National Union of Teachers, is pleased to launch Staffroom Monologues 2008, a national competition to find the staffroom’s best dramatists.

School staff who are budding screen writers, or simply have an interesting story to tell, can win the chance of having their script performed by an actor for a special Teachers TV series Staffroom Monologues. Two of the winning scripts will be filmed and broadcast on the channel, while three others will be recorded in audio format which will be available for download from www.teachers.tv.

To enter, budding script writers that work in education (paid or voluntary) are asked to submit a single character fictional monologue of between 800 and 1,000 words by 25 March 2008 on any aspect of school life from the perspective of someone who works in a school.

Local History Competition

CompetitionHistoryHere are details of a competition from Teachers TV for the budding local historians reading: Come up with an innovative class project involving local buildings and you could win complete funding for it (PLUS a digital camera) in our Hidden House History competition. There's even an opportunity for pupils to win a new laptop and digital camera with their own innovative ideas.

Co-sponsored by The History Channel and Ancestry.co.uk the competition ties in with a range of fascinating programmes that can help actively engage pupils with local history.

Two examples are available online to give you some ideas and a bit of inspiration, as are links to top-notch resources and a number of short video clips with great tips on investigating the history of your local architecture and landscape.

Go to the Hidden House History homepage now to start planning a local excursion that could wake up the future historians, archaeologists  and archivists in your classroom. And don't forget the 30 June deadline – be sure to start brainstorming before the competition is history!

Talking Dice Winner

CompetitionThanks to all of those that entered the Talking Dice competition.  Over 100 people entered with 86 giving the correct answer of 96 dice in a full classroom set.  There can only be one winner however....

Fancy yourself as a scriptwriter?

Competition Teachers’ TV, in partnership with the National Union of Teachers, is launching a national competition to find the best screen writers of the staffroom.

School staff who are budding screenwriters or simply have an interesting story to tell can win the chance of having their script performed by a well known actor for a special Teachers’ TV series Staffroom Monologues. As part of their prize, four winning writers will also have the chance to spend time developing their script with one of the UK’s top scriptwriters, Tony Marchant. The winning writer, as chosen by a select judging panel, will then be invited to see their monologue being filmed for broadcast by Teachers’ TV later in the year.

To enter, budding script writers that work in education (paid or voluntary) are asked to submit a single character fictional monologue of between 800 to 1,000 words by 26 February 2007 on any aspect of school life from the perspective of someone who works in a school.
